Dr. Chiedozie OKORO is a Professor of Philosophy, Faculty of Arts, University of Lagos. He began his career in the Department in 1987 as a Direct Entry (DE) student, graduated in 1990, did his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) 1990 – 1991, he completed his M. A. Philosophy and Ph.D. Philosophy in 1994 and 2003 respectively. He joined the academic staff rank of the Department of Philosophy as a Graduate Assistant (GA) in 1995. He became Assistant Lecturer (AL) on the 15th of January 1999, Lecturer II in October 2002, Lecturer I in 2005, and in 2007 he got promoted to Senior Lecture and confirmation of appointment as a staff of the University of Lagos. He became Associate Professor in 2012 and full Professor in 2016.

In administrative capacity, he has been: Examination Officer Department of Philosophy (2004-2007); Departmental Coordinator Diploma II (Foundation Programme) (2004-2007); Chairman,Departmental Postgraduate Committee 2013 – 2017; Member, Examinations Misconduct Committee, Postgraduate School 2014 – 2017; Editor: The Nigerian Journal of Philosophy 2011; Sub-Dean of Arts 2011 to 2013 and currently the Head of Philosophy. He is the current Chairman Board of Trustees Faculty of Arts Alumni Association (FAAA).

On service to other Universities: He served as External Examiner to Department of Philosophy and Religion postgraduate program, Ebonyi State University 2013 – 2015; Department of Philosophy postgraduate program, University of Ibadan 2017 – 2019 and currently the External Examiner for Department of Philosophy postgraduate program, Lagos State University. From 2010 – 2011 and 2019 -2020 he was Visiting Lecturer in the Department of Classics and Philosophy, University of Cape Coast (UCC), Cape Coast, Ghana and the Department of Philosophy and Classics, University of Ghana, Legon, Accra, Ghana respectively. He is Member, Philosophical Association
of Nigeria (PAN) and Non-Cluster Member, Institute of African Diaspora Studies (IADS).

His research perspective has been to use the applied ontological approach to peruse issues in metaphysics, epistemology, ethics, Socio-Political Philosophy, Philosophy of History, Philosophy of Law, Existentialism, Phenomenology, African Philosophy, Philosophy of Education, Business Ethics, Military Ethics, Philosophy and Cultural Studies, Philosophy of Development, and Philosophy and Nation Building. Other Areas of Competence include Philosophy and Security Studies, Disaster and Terrorism Management, Resilience and Critical Infrastructural Management, Psychic Science and ICT, and Engineering Asset Management. To this effect, he has presented papers at conferences and seminars, local and international. Where necessary, he has embarked on field researches; as in the case of Afa studies in relation to how Afa hermeneutics applies to human existence. The purpose for this is to develop an insider (i.e. initiate) perspective to perusing and resolving issues concerning Africa; a quest that has culminated in the invention of Integrative metaphysics as a school of thought and phenomenology of life-force or Afa hermeneutic phenomenology as a methodology of inquiry.
